<Three Principles Regarding Bicycles> | |
1.Avoid purchasing a bicycle, if possible. The campus is currently overwhelmed with bicycles. We kindly ask you to use alternative transportation methods (such as walking or public transportation) whenever feasible. In particular, please refrain from purchasing a bicycle solely for getting around the campus. If you do use a bicycle ・Please remember that pedestrians have the right of way on campus. ・When riding, keep to the left edge of the roadway and cycle safely. |
2.Attach the registration sticker. You must display the registration sticker, which is issued upon registration,in a clearly visible location on your bicycle. Bicycles without a visible sticker will be locked and removed (temporarily relocated). "Bicycle registration is valid until the end of March each year." |
3.Park only in designated areas / Do not abandon bicycles. Always park your bicycle in the designated bicycle parking areas. Bicycles left outside of designated areas will be locked and removed (temporarily relocated). Violations of campus traffic rules (such as disregarding traffic safety or improper parking) will result in strict measures, including ・locking, ・removal ・cancellation of registration. If your registration is canceled, you will be prohibited from using a bicycle on campus for one year. In some cases, removal fees may be charged to the owner of the bicycle. Abandoned bicycles ・Make it difficult for others to use the parking spaces ・Compromise campus safety and appearance ・Cost the university approx. 1 million yen per year for removal and disposal Bicycles parked near building entrances or on roads: ・Obstruct pedestrian traffic ・Hinder evacuation during emergencies ・Interfere with emergency vehicles, fire-fighting, and rescue operations Do not park bicycles on tactile paving blocks for the visually impaired. |
